It felt like I was in an amusement park, about to ride that scariest ride on offer. That knot of excitement and terror taughtened in my stomach as I finally came face to face with him. Or...at least I thought it'd be like that. The man standing in the door was not what I had expected. Blonde with a military hair cut and uniform he looked as human as me.

- Coran, American, Matthews? This needs your signature.

The man gave me a piece of paper. Looking it over, basically by signing it I agreed to be the ambassador of the United States of America for the EDA in question, thereby binding me to the service of the United States of America, to be at the mercy of the state. Already I had signed what felt like a hundred different versions of this exact document and it annoyed me. Again, I am no conspiracy theorist, but I like commedians and for everyone of these documents I kept hearing Steve Hughes at Michael McIntyres Commedy Roadshow - "the small oppresion of our physical movements so we can't do anything without permission from the state."

Signing it with a grunt and a sigh I gave it back to the man and he took it beneath his arm. Pulling a walkie from his belt he looked to what looked like a cargo car behind the one he had just exited from. "We got his signature. Open the door." he said into the walkie and with a metallic clang the cargo door started to move outwards and then to the side. Not quite understanding what was going on I was about to take a step outwards, but a sudden hand on my shoulder stopped me. "Stay. And don't overreact." the colonel told me. I really did not like his hand on my shoulder, but I knew when to shut up. Besides, I soon got other things to think of as the knot in my stomach tightened again, only the scale was weighing more towards fear and nausea than excitement.

Slowly, or at least I saw it as slowly, a massive leg, resembling both that of an insect and a reptile exited the door. It was black with three joints, like that of a spider but seemed to be covered in huge scales. Between scales single strands of hair grew and at the end of the leg two claws grew, one big in the front and a smaller one on its side. As this leg touched ground yet another like it started moving out of the car. And another. And another, and another. Finally the main body of this creature started moving out of the car.

It was with a perplexed fascination and horror for the unknown I took in the sight before me. It was truly repelling, its body was very thick and colored in almost luminous black, green and yellow patches.Seeing as it didn't have an obvious head, and along with its legs and distended body it looked very much like a nightmarish insect. The upper side of its body had what looked like the shield of an insect and what I assumed was its front had a bent line of black dots, highlighted by its very bright underside. I couldn't see any mouth or anything you could take for a mouth, and as it moved about I saw its black scales shimmer in a green color.

As it fully exited the car I counted a total of twelve legs. Its body was somewhat thick and it had a total of twelve legs. I was never really good at measuring with my eyes, but from what I could see, with its legs spread in varying angles and heights it seemed just a bit bigger than the average car. When I had finished taking it in it came towards us.

In my study of this insect-like creature I had forgotten whether I was afraid or excited or both and just felt a rush through my veins but when the thing got sight of us and made its way against us I felt the urge to run away - far, far away. It was like the monster of a horror movie! This was the scene where the crazy cultists would sacrifice their victim to their beast-like god and the victim would be torn to shreds and devoured.

I think the colonell felt my fear for his other hand came down on my other shoulder and he pressed down hard on me. In a way I was thankful to him, for I probably would have forgotten about why I was here if he hadn't. This is what I wanted to do! Meet exciting, new civilisations and work as Earths ambassador for them!

The thing came in close to us and I'm guessing my face was a paler shade of white at its vicinity. I was terrified and nauseous. This close though I felt something very strange. the creature had a faint scent, not repulsive or even unpleasant, but rather it was very good. It was something I hadn't felt before though, so I couldn't really place it. Still, this did nothing to calm my quivering nerves.

A long while the creature just stood there and I just stared. I was brought out of my stupor by the genreal giving my a light push with his knee and clearing his throat. Remembering my part on all this I blinked and shook my head before clearing my throat and tried speaking.

- We-welcome to Earth...Eh, my name is...C-Coran Mathews and I-I am to be...your host...for...yourstay.

I'd rehersed this line so many times it felt like a habit, and that probably saved what could be saved. Still, before I really realized I was reaching out my hand to a creature with no obvious hands it was too late. The creature just looked at me. It probably wondred what I was doing. In truth, so was I.

Staring at my hand, I think, for a few seconds it suddenly lowered itself until it was lying on the ground. My shock became even greater when the shielding on its back split open and revealed a green and black, scaled surface, not unlike that of the rest of the creature. This surface was surrounded by fink flesh and somehow it reminded me of something. The surface had a "valley" splitting it and it ended in somekind of hollow and on the sides of the "valley" was several more, much smaller hollows. I counted thirteen on either side, twelve in total. This valley had two triangular shapes on either side, reminding me of the shoulder blades on your...your back! That's what this green and black surface reminded me of!

My interested revulsion when this dawned on me was enough to make me have to swallow down my brekfast again. What happened next did not help either, as a bulge suddenly started to move within the pink flesh. It moved along this things "inner back" and a slit formed to the side, close to the end of the back and from it a creature very similar to the one before me crawled.

This smaller creature was alot more slender than the one before me and much more reptilian. At first it resembled a snake, except for its large number of legs, which, as it crawled up to and along the valley, I realized matched the number of hollows. I watched in nausea how this creature burrowed its head into the hollow of the back and inserted each leg into each hollow, slightly elevating the scale-clad skin.

The surface started to move, bulge where the "shoulder blades" would have been and the pink flesh seemed to suck down on the surface. Shock mounted on shock as the surface started to move upwards from the flesh. Slowly what appeard to be arms and a neck revealed itself from the creature and I finally realized the surface didn't just remind of a back - it really was a back!

It was only my possessed fascination for what was going on in front of me that kept me from fainting or vomiting and the creature hidden within the creature rose up. As I saw it, took in the site before my my nausea started to slowly, very slowly dissipate. It had head and face and arms and body like that of a human and if these creatures humanoid fysiology was any clue, then what I was looking at was a female of the species.

- The Dyere is a civilisation of highly evolved understanding of biology and they're able to employ it in very advanced ways, as you see. The colonel said behind me and this creature, this "dyere" reached out its-her hand to me.

- It's nice to meet you Coran. I hope to be your friend. You can call me Noy.
I'm very sorry for this very late update. Please, forgive me. :please:
